You already know the deal with Edison. What you don't know yet is whether your home qualifies for something different. A few weeks of checks, and you'll have your answer. Either way, it's worth knowing.
Moved into the neighborhood in November and had 2 neighbors refer us to Caleb. We loved working with him, and Sunrun got it done without many issues. The system has been on a couple months now and it's working just like he said, so we are glad it got turned on before summer time. Got the smart thermostat with Vivint too with the install which we really like.
Same house. Same appliances. SCE rates have increased 83% in the last decade.
17% of every Edison bill goes to wildfire liability costs — not electricity.
Edison solves its problems with your money.
Edison and your new plan, compared row by row.
Up an average of 8% a year for the last decade.
Capped at 3.5% a year for 25 years.
A time-of-use plan — different rates by hour, season, and how much you've used. You find out what you paid when the bill shows up.
You have no protections. Edison has averaged over 8% a year for the last decade. More increases are already approved through 2028.
When the grid goes down, your power goes with it. No backup. The lights stay off until the grid comes back.
No protections. Maintenance, upgrades, storm repairs — added to your bill. Just a bill for a grid that keeps getting more expensive.
One flat rate. Same every month. You know what you owe before the month starts.
Your rate is locked with a 3.5% annual cap, written into your agreement. No surprises. No catching up.
A Tesla Powerwall kicks in the moment the grid drops. It recharges during the day. Your lights stay on.
25-year warranty on parts, labor, and workmanship. Sunrun owns the system and insures it. Hail, wind, equipment failure — covered on their policy, not yours.

Same home.
Different math.
The one you chose. The one you'll keep.
Homeowners who cleared the same process you just did.
"We met Caleb not too long ago and the process has been amazing. We have even referred him to many friends and they say the same thing! We would not have done it if we did not trust Caleb! Sunrun did a great job too with the installation, it was done in a day and they cleaned up everything!"
"Met Caleb back in August and my biggest worry was having to pay money upfront. He was patient and the process went so smooth, they even helped us get our main panel upgraded. Have recommended him to 2 neighbors and the process has been good for themselves as well."
"I've had issues with programs like this in the past, so I was hesitant. Caleb took the time to explain everything and made sure I understood what I was getting into. No pressure, no rush. I'm glad I gave it another shot."
"We own a care home and were referred by a friend to work with Caleb Grondel! The process was easy and Caleb made it very clear and answered all my questions. Our Care home requires back up power and we are excited for what the Tesla Powerwall can do for our home. We are saving money compared to what we are paying Southern California Edison right now."
"Caleb Grondel was our consultant and he made sure we were taken care of. He walked us through all of the details as well as changes that came up. Since the power would be out during the installation, he made sure we were reimbursed for a hotel room so I could continue to work. Overall, a great experience with Caleb and the installers."
"Working with Caleb from Sunrun has been a wonderful experience. Caleb is very knowledgeable about rooftop solar systems. He earned my trust 100%. Our solar system was installed professionally in just a day and a half. I highly recommend Caleb to anyone!"
"Caleb is an amazing guy. Very fast in replying. Easy to get hold of him and very swiftly takes care of your concerns. Overall this experience was fantastic, went smoothly. Will recommend these guys 100%!"
Done. Your home is in the queue.
A Sunrun engineer visits your home to determine if your roof and electrical setup meet program requirements. Typically within 1–2 weeks.
I'll personally walk you through the results and what your custom system would look like. 4–7 days after survey.
If approved, Sunrun engineers finalize your system layout and submit for city approval. This is the longest step — typically 4–6 weeks.
The crew arrives, installs everything, and cleans up. Most installs are completed in a single day.
The city inspects the system and grants Permission to Operate. Once approved, your system goes live and your Edison bill drops to the minimum connection fee.
The concerns most people might have but not sure how to ask.
Sunrun is responsible for the system. That means every component on your roof and in your garage — panels, inverters, battery, wiring — is their responsibility, not yours. If something fails, they fix or replace it at no cost to you.
Your agreement includes a 25-year warranty covering parts, labor, and workmanship. Sunrun monitors the system around the clock — if production drops or something goes offline, they typically catch it before you notice. The 90% performance guarantee means if your system produces less than 90% of the estimate in any given period, Sunrun pays you the difference.
The roof penetrations are covered too. If a leak develops because of the installation, that's on Sunrun for the life of the agreement. Not your homeowner's insurance. Not your pocket.
You don't troubleshoot. You don't call a contractor. You don't file a claim. You call Caleb or Sunrun, and it gets handled.
Because qualifying is the only way to find out if you have another option at all. Right now you're in a permanent arrangement with Edison. There's no end date. No contract you signed. No rate cap. No exit clause. Edison can raise your rate every year — and they have. For the last decade straight.
If you qualify, you'd move into a 25-year agreement with a rate you agreed to, a 3.5% annual cap you can see in writing, and terms that transfer if you sell your home. Edison's arrangement is indefinite with no cap, no ceiling, and no terms at all.
Finding out you're qualified doesn't lock you into anything. It just tells you whether the option exists — a commitment with terms, versus the one you're already on without them.
The 30% federal tax credit for homeowner-purchased systems expired December 31, 2025. Without it, the average solar and battery system in California costs $35,000 to $50,000. Financed, that's roughly $370 a month at 7% for 15 years — $25,000 in interest on top of the principal.
The battery alone runs about $15,000 installed and typically needs replacing around year 10 to 12. If you purchased the system that replacement is on you.
However the tax credit still exists for third-party-owned systems. Sunrun is able to claim it and pass it through to you as a lower rate. So the reason most people lean toward this program is simple: you get the same panels, the same battery, and a lower rate than Edison — without spending $50,000, without taking on a loan, and without being responsible when something needs fixing or replacing. The savings start month one and the risk sits with Sunrun, not you.
That happens mostly when the system is undersized — it doesn't produce enough to cover their usage, so they're still pulling from the grid every month. Sizing is the whole job. We designed yours from your actual Edison bill, not a rough estimate, not an average.
Your system will also include a Tesla Powerwall. It stores your excess production for the hours Edison charges the most. That's why your bill drops to the minimum connection fee — not from net metering credits, but because you're barely touching the grid.
Sunrun watches your system 24/7. If production drops, they know before you do.
Something breaks. Sunrun fixes it. You don't call anyone. You don't pay anything.
Full equipment coverage for the life of your agreement. Not a year. Not five years. The whole thing.
Hail, wind, equipment failure — Sunrun covers damage to your system. Not your homeowner's policy.

I'm on this personally from here. If the survey turns up anything, you'll hear from me before anyone else. Questions at 10pm on a Tuesday — text me.
When the crew shows up, people notice. When they ask, send them my way. If they qualify and get approved, you get $500. Not a credit. Cash.
